On-call duty

Remaining available for a possible assignment without being at the workplace, treated differently under working time law from standby duty.

On-call duty means that a guard remains available for a possible assignment but may choose their own location and only needs to be reachable. It differs legally from standby duty, where the guard stays at a location specified by the employer.

The distinction is important because it affects which times count as working time under the Arbeitszeitgesetz and how they are paid. If on-call duty turns into an assignment, working time clearly begins, including the effects on the Ruhezeit.

Balerion Security takes care of exactly that.

Scheduling, ArbZG checks, guard logs and payroll exports in one system, specifically for security services.
