The Unterrichtung under § 34a GewO is a 40-hour course at the IHK that teaches basic knowledge of law, dealing with people and security technology. It is the basic qualification for simple security activities such as stationary site guarding.
For activities involving direct contact with the public, city patrols, store detectives and door supervisors, the Unterrichtung is not sufficient. The Sachkundeprüfung is mandatory. Recording both properly for each employee prevents anyone from being scheduled with insufficient qualifications.
