Time tracking in security services
Mandatory recording of working time, usually mobile and geofenced in the security industry because work takes place at changing sites.
Since the landmark ruling (2022) of the Bundesarbeitsgericht, the German Federal Labour Court, employers have been required to record working time systematically. This is particularly relevant in practice for security services because guards work at changing sites and on night shifts. A time clock at company headquarters is not sufficient.
Mobile time tracking via an app, often with geofencing, is therefore common. The recorded times are also the basis for payroll and for checking working time limits.
