A virtual radius around a site within which guards clock in and out via an app, GDPR compliant as an individual check-in event rather than continuous location tracking.
Geofencing defines a virtual radius around a site. The guard can only clock in and out via the app when actually at the deployment location. This makes time tracking resistant to manipulation without continuously tracking the guard's location.
The key point under data protection law: Only the check-in event, time and location at the moment of clocking in, is recorded. There is no continuous location tracking. This data minimization is the basis for GDPR compliant implementation in the employment context.
