Absences
Five types, four states. And one type that is approved without blocking scheduling.
Record and request
There are five types: Vacation, Sick, Unpaid, Other and Freiwunsch, meaning a preferred day off. If the scheduling team creates an absence, it is approved immediately. If a security officer requests it in the app, it is created as a request and must be approved.
The Freiwunsch, meaning a preferred day off, is the special case. It lets the officer state the days when they would rather not be assigned without requesting vacation. It is approved like an absence, but does not block scheduling and remains completely neutral for payroll and the Arbeitszeitkonto, meaning working time account. It is a preference, not a block.
The periods are accurate to the day, and the end date is fully included.

What is blocked
Only approved absences block scheduling. An open request does not freeze the plan. The security officer can still be scheduled. The replacement agent is stricter here and also excludes requested periods.
An approved Freiwunsch, meaning preferred day off, is not a block either, as described above. Ignoring it does not violate a rule, but it breaks a commitment.

What is missing
The employee profile shows remaining vacation on the Billing tab, and security officers can also see their own balance. It is calculated as the stored annual entitlement minus approved vacation days in the current calendar year, counting Monday to Friday and excluding public holidays. Without a stored annual entitlement, the field remains empty. It is not estimated.
So no one has to search for it: there is no vacation calendar for the whole team and no warning when the vacations of several security officers overlap.
