The division of working time into shifts, early, late and night, as the basis for staffing, allowances and working time compliance.
A shift roster divides working time into recurring shifts, traditionally early, late and night. In security services, it determines not only staffing, but also the calculation of night, Sunday and public holiday allowances and compliance with the Arbeitszeitgesetz.
Shifts that run past midnight are the norm and the most common source of errors: A shift from 22 to 6 partly belongs to the previous day and partly to the following day. Software that divides this correctly prevents incorrect hours and incorrect allowances.
