Getting Started
The order matters. Starting with shifts can quickly lead to dead ends.
The order
- Create a customer. Optionally include a default hourly rate, which is later used as the last level of rate resolution.
- Create a site, with an address and coordinates. Without coordinates, the geofence does not work, so check-in is not possible.
- Create the team. A name is enough for a security officer, but without a phone number there is no app access.
- Create an order. The system generates the shifts from the period, shift length and number of security officers.
- Assign staff, either directly by dragging in the plan or through the shift marketplace.
You can add hourly rates, pay rates and holiday calendars later. Scheduling works without them, but invoicing and payroll will fail later.

What must be set up first
Three things are off by default and must be configured on the server. Otherwise, the related functions have no effect:
- Push delivery. Without a configured delivery channel, nothing is sent. It is only logged.
- File storage. This affects evidence and security logbook photos.
- The AI replacement agent. See John AI, where all levels are described.
Who sees what
There are six roles and a finely structured set of permissions above them. Important: only the owner can see payroll, invoicing and controlling. The included Dispatcher role has neither the permission to override scheduling rules nor the permission to close periods.
For more information, see Team and Roles.

Explanation mode
There is a small light bulb in the header of every Cockpit screen. Click it to enable explanation mode. Elements with explanations are highlighted subtly, and moving the pointer over them shows a short explanation of what the element means and what it is used for.
Click the light bulb again or press the Escape key to exit the mode. It is intended as a reference tool and starts disabled on every page load.

Where the settings are located
Many of the prerequisites described here are configured once in the settings. The purpose of each section is summarized in Settings Guide.
Two catalogs are worth setting up early because many selection fields depend on them: Skills and Employee categories under Settings, Master data. Without employee categories, you cannot add prices to a deal later.
